Nicholas Chew was a third-year UCLA Political Science and Philosophy Double Major. He served as a New Student Advisor for two years (2024/2025), where he welcomed thousands of incoming freshmen and transfer students, helping them feel seen, supported, and connected as they began their UCLA journey. His kindness and positivity made him a trusted mentor to many.
Nicholas also founded the UCLA Coffee Club, a community that brought together students from all majors and class years over simple conversations and shared moments of connection. In additon, he was a board member of UCLA Bridge and Litigation, where he inspired and supported his peers in the pre-law community.
In October 2025, Nicholas died by suicide after a long struggle with mental health challenges. His passing deeply affected the UCLA community, especially the students and organizations he built up through kindness, humor, and genuine care.
Nicholas's impact reached across disciplines, friend groups, and organizations. His ability to make everyone feel valued and included left a lasting mark on countless students. This event honors his legacy by continuing what he did best-bringing people together to talk, listen, and care for one another, living like Nich.
